Casa de Pedra Mine Project

Casa de Pedra (Stone House) iron mine is one of the largest open-pit mines in Brazil. It is located in the city of Congonhas, in the state of Minas Gerais, approximately 80 km South of the city of Belo Horizonte. The mine supplies all of the iron ore needs, producing lump ore, sinter feed, and pellet feed fines with high iron ore content. It is a hematite-rich iron deposit of an early Proterozoic banded iron formation in Brazil’s Iron Ore Quasrangle (Quadrilátero Ferrífero).

Encardio-rite supplied Piezometers in 2005 to monitor underground water pressure. Our Marketing Associate, Terratel Ltd., supplied the instrumentation in Brazil.
